Our Story

Welcome to The Salt Cellar where delicious food at value for money prices awaits you. Housed within an original 17th Century stone salt cellar. The Salt Cellar has firmly established itself as the family’s favourite destination for a day out in Lossiemouth, children are especially welcome.

The Salt Cellar has teas, coffees (Cappuccino/ Espresso), cakes, scones and tasty sweets with cream, or try the pizzeria section with cannelloni and lasagne; the grill section with steaks and fish dishes or specialities of the day which can be tread on the blackboard. Vegetarian dishes are always available and there is a children’s menu. Enjoy a wide range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks with your meal.

We had visited another local eatery who had shocking service, and came here instead. The staff could not have been more helpful, and fitted us during a very busy service. Drinks were served very quickly, and our order taken in good time. The food was excellent – I had the Spaghetti Pescatora which was outstanding! Lots of fish, seafood, and a whole langoustine on top. My partner had Italian Tapas which excellent. We ate here twice, and the food was excellent both times. Highly recommended!

Just dined in tonight. Lovely setting and a nice quiet environment. Food was well cooked, especially the seafood dishes. Fresh Local Langoustine was definitely a highlight. We recommend also the service! Bravo 🙂

Having just spent two weeks here in lossiemouth to recharge our batteries after a long hard six months sheltering from Covid we were thrilled to return to this restaurant where we felt so safe and comfortable with all the cleansing taking place and good tasty food as well. Hi just come back from eating at the Salt Cellar. Just wanted to say what a lovely evening we had. The food was excellent. I had the moules marinere followed by the rib eye steak cooked perfectly, and my husband had the chicken skewers followed by rib eye. Apart from the quality of the food I would like to say what lovely staff you have working for you: so polite and nothing was too much trouble. I had a wonderful birthday meal tonight and would not hesitate to come again should we be in Lossiemouth in the future.

After finishing the North 58° tour, my wife and I were starving and need somewhere to warm up. Found the The Salt Cellar along the coast and what a nice little find! Warm welcome, friendly staff, nice interior and relaxed little buzz about the place. Definitely recommend, especially the Beef Steak Pie for food.

Working in the area so popped through to Lossie to kill a few hours and was determined to find a decent Sunday roast. This place didn’t disappoint! Hearty portions cooked to perfection and dessert that was lovely. Two meals and two drinks just under £26 for me, in a tourist town that was very reasonable and I’ll be back. Staff also friendly and attentive

Went here while on a break in April. The experience was great from start to. The food was delicious ( mozerella sticks macaroni and cheese, Cullen Skink and risotto) and was served quickly. The staff couldn’t have been nicer and very efficient. It’s is also reasonably priced. I would definitely recommend this for a meal when in Lossiemouth.
